On these pages, we have a fairly comprehensive list of LGBT Asian movies and dramas. Well, all the ones that we could find as, let me tell you, it’s not an easy task! But we’ve had the question many a time, so I’ve striven to find all the ones I can. Below are links to pages of LGBT content lists separated into countries, where you’ll find the name of the movie/drama, the release date, synopsis, and when possible, a little key as to what you can expect. For example, it will list whether it is a drama or movie (or movie short), whether it can be listed as gay, lesbian, or trans, whether the plotline in question is the main point of the movie (be it romantic or just issues based) or if it’s just a side character, and finally, for those of you out there looking of these types of titles, there are soooo many of them which end horribly (we’re not just talking heartbreak here), so when possible we’ve put in a little hint.
Disclaimer: A title showing up in this list is, in no way, an endorsement. Most of these I’ve found by research and have not actually seen myself. (Many of them being not available online, or translated online.) So if a title ends up being of poor quality, don’t blame the messenger, this page is just a resource. When possible, if I have seen the title, I will put in a little line or two reviews to give you a further heads up.
Anyway, I hope you like it! And when you come across ones I’ve missed (because we know there will be), please give me the information in a comment, and we’ll add it in!
Question for you! I manage to also plow my way through a fair amount of LGBT Books. There are so many out there, good, bad and wink bad. Any interest in seeing a list of my favorites? Let me know in the comments below!
As a genre, drama encompasses just about every film that doesn't fit into a more specific category. Dramas usually involve characters in conflict, either with other characters, with themselves or with an external obstacle or difficult situation. Just about the only requirement of a dramatic narrative is that the story's situations aren't played primarily for laughs-although dramas can certainly have elements of comedy in them, and comedies can have dramatic elements, as well. Unlike action and adventure films, which value physical movement and uncomplicated plot progression, dramas tend to focus on character development and the emotional and intellectual struggles within and between characters.
The drama genre can be divided into a multitude of sub-genres based on the subject matter of the film. Romantic dramas concern themselves with the relationship between two people, family dramas explore the interactions among relatives, and historical dramas consider the lives of people in eras gone by. The constant in dramas is their interest in how people get along with one another, how they grapple with their emotions, and how they cope with conflicts in their lives. Dramas are centered around scenes of introspection and dialogue, and the action in dramas always supports the goal of allowing the viewer to get to know the characters.
Because dramas are so character-driven, they are beloved by actors who want the chance to show how they can inhabit the characters they portray, and top-notch dramatic performances tend to draw more critical acclaim than those in almost any other genre. Many of the most respected American actors-Meryl Streep, Dustin Hoffman, Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, etc.-did their most well-known and highly praised work in dramatic roles. In general, dramas are taken more seriously as an artistic genre than are comedies, action movies, musicals or other more light-hearted types of film, and some award-granting organizations go as far as to segregate dramas and comedies into separate categories.

4 Hearts of the Mountain: Part One :snowflake:
Tarahimalaya
This came out in 2010 and was a big giant hit. All the main actors and actresses are now big stars of Thailand such as Nadech Kugimiya. The storyline is not that creative..but it was so entertaining to watch.
There is a prince who was on the run because there was someone who plotted to kill him in his country. He then got this destiny to come to live with this big warm family; the warm elder couple with one daughter who was a doctor, and three sons who were helping the family business. In fact, it was the daughter(she was called Nam then) who brought the prince to her home thinking he did not have anywhere else to go, and that he had a brain damage as well. The prince was then to work there as a worker on the farm. Later on the prince and Nam fell in love, and she knew the truth. But then it reached to the time when the prince had to go back to his country to deal with those that are his enemies, the royal family's enemies. But he also had his support he had help him all along too. And Nam is not going let him being alone in this situation, so she followed him. When she followed him, her three loving brothers followed them too.
Oh.my...this drama is so fun. I recommend it whole heartedly. It has romance, comedy and actions and a perfect ending that made me soo happy throughout this journey of watching it.you should give it a chance..definetly..and for who likes lakorn..it is a must watch
The Link to watch
Wanida :blossom:
Another big hit drama came out in 2010.
It was a cute romantic comedy that I love.
Wanida was a daughter of a rich loaner..people called him shark loaner. When she got 22 years old, her father would like to find a suitable husband for her. He chose one of the man from the high society who was indebted to him. The man's family has name status but not as rich. But then the man already had someone he loved so he run away. Then it happened that his elder brother had to take his place because the family could not repay the debt. Wanida was also not so satiafy with this but she could reject her father wish. So Wanida and the man married. As time went, the man fell in love with her. And it happened he never wanted the debt to be repaid.
This is one best romantic comedy I have ever watched from a Thai TV. You should check it out too.
Three couples from the drama...it's good to be more than one
The Rising Sun :rose:
The story is about the Samurai Family in Japan. Therefore, it took place in Japan the whole plot.
Part One: Roy Ruk Hak Liam Tawan
Trace of Love Breaking Down the Sun
The Thai scholarship student, Preawdow went to study in Japan. She met this Japanese man who was actuallu younger than her and he was so smitten by her. She too later fell in love with him. He was called Takashi. Then she learnt that if she want to live with him, she had to face many dangerous things that had to do with a Samurai family that could bring both her and the man she love to danger.
Where to watch..
Part Two: Roy Fun Tawan Deurd
Dreaming of the Burning Sun
Continue from the first part. Takashi's cousin was the main character along with his sweetheart, Mayumi, also from a Samurai family that is very friendly with Takashi's family.
This is a Japanese themed lakorn. All the actors and actresses are Thai. They all speak Thai. But you must watch it as a lakorn not a jdrama. If you watch it as a lakorn, it is so entertaining. It has romance, a good solid plot and the actions and suspence are great. I loved it. When the two main actors; Mario Maurer and Nadech Kugimiya may not be as handsome as Lee Min Ho and Kim Hyun Joon, the drama was still great. And there is a lot of unrealistic things and flaws, I enjoyed watching this more than Boys Over Flowers..lol...you may not agree with me but why don't you give a try.
Ruk Mai Mee Wan Tai: Immortality :hibiscus:
If you translate it directly, it means Love Never Dies.but it is a bit cheesy since this storyline has more to do with the main character, Traipob who was cursed to be a vampire eternity or an immortal because his family stole the precious items from the enchanting cave. He had a determination to break this spell. The only way is to put all the items back to its cave. But all the items are now spread around the world. To complete his task, he had to find them all back. And he needed help from our poor heroine who was looking after her blind mother. But Traipob's uncle was so against him and he and his family would stop Traipob from breaking the curse at any costs because that would mean the end of their powerful immortal lives.
This drama is combination of romance, fantasy, action, suspense, comedy and a little bit of horror and thriller. Just like Twilight, the vampires in here can live in the daylight but I like this more since it is focus more on the suspense than romance. But I love romance in here too..because the couple here are so supportive to each other. It is not visually stunning as Twilight but I like the storyline more.
And here is the link..
Kularb Rai Khone Nai Tawan :sunflower:
Mr Tawan's Sassy Rose
Rose's grandfather and Tawan's grandfather were friends, and they would like to be related so they Rose and Tawan to get married.
Rose was a spoiled young beatiful lady who finished study from England. She was so spoiled that her grandfather send her to Tawan's farm to tame her.
Tawan looked after his family farm. He had a soft spot for his childhood unrelated sister 'Little Rose' but when he saw that his Little Rose has grown up into a vain brat, he was very disappointed but yet determined to tame her.
Rose was so angry to have to go to live in a low countryside farm. Yet she was bitter as Tawan made her work on the farm. But she soon began to enjoy the life in the farm as people there were warm to her. They could see the kind heart she had underneath her bratty behaviour. Soon she also learn to love the man who seemed to harsh on her but nonetheless cared about her deeply. It's good, Tawan and Rose fell in love quickly but they still have to face obstacles.
This is definetly one of my favourite romantic comedy. I laughed so hard throughout the drama..Mai Davika and Kan Kanthatawon's chemistry was so fantastic. It also has a lot of cute romantic scenes. The ending was very adorable.
